PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output image data at an appropriate time by eliminating shift between a plurality of light beams by a simple calculation process without complicating the structure of a scanner and control. SOLUTION: A large pitch shift as shown in Fig. 5(A) is corrected into a small pitch shift as shown in Fig. 5(B) by address change of dot address data, thus the stripe irregularity at the boundary of repeated scanning is reduced. In other words, the shift which may largely affect a deterioration in picture quality is reduced by simple structure and control (the address change of the dot pattern address) although a highly precise correction is not given, thus the present embodiment can be an effective means.
