THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE HAVING GOOD SELF-EXTINGUISHING PROPERTY AND THEIR PREPARATION

A self-extinguishing thermoplastic polyurethane, and a method for preparing the thermoplastic polyurethane are provided to improve self-extinguishing property. A self-extinguishing thermoplastic polyurethane comprises an organic diisocyanate; a long chained diol; if necessary, a short chained diol as a chain extender; and a mixture of red phosphorus and melamine cyanurate as a flameproofing agent. Preferably the content of red phosphorus and melamine cyanurate is 1-11 parts by weight and 10-50 parts by weight, respectively, based on 100 parts by weight of the total solid part of the diisocyanate and the diol. Preferably the thermoplastic polyurethane comprises further a liquid organic phosphate compound as a processing aid.
