A rechargeable battery is provided to prevent electric charges from being concentrated on a protrusion part of a safety vent. A rechargeable battery includes: a safety vent(260) in which a protrusion part(262) is formed on one surface thereof; an insulator(250) which has a first hole(256) through which the protrusion part passes, and a second hole(257) for gas flow, and is in contact with the safety vent; and a cap plate(220) which has a receiving part(226) for accommodating the protrusion part, and a third hole(227) for gas flow, and is in contact with the insulator. An opening area of the second holes is smaller than a contact area of the insulator to the safety vent. |
