<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a softening detergent composition performing the cleaning of a fibrous product having flexibility and at the same time hardly remaining impurities in a clay mineral or clay-granulated material in a clothing. <P>SOLUTION: This softening detergent contains 1 to 20 mass% clay-granulated material consisting mainly of a smectite type clay mineral expressed by following general formula (I): [Si<SB>8</SB>(Mg<SB>a</SB>Al<SB>b</SB>)O<SB>20</SB>(OH)<SB>4</SB>]<SP>X--</SP>X/n[Me]<SP>n+</SP>(I) [wherein, 0<a≤6, 0≤b≤4 and 0.2≤x=12-2a-3b≤1.2; Me is at least one kind of Na, K, Li, Ca, Mg and NH<SB>4</SB>; and (n) is a number of valence of the Me], and provided that in the case of serving it for a standard sieve prescribed by the JIS Z 8801 (74 μm opening), the softening detergent composition shows 0.2 to 2.5% undissolved rate of the clay-granulated material, calculated by formula (II).
