PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved anchoring assembly for surgical operation, including an elongated component such as an endoscope.SOLUTION: An endoscope system 100 includes an endoscope 104 equipped with an instrument channel 112, and an anchoring assembly 106 including an inflatable/deflatable balloon assembly 108. The inflatable/deflatable balloon assembly is deflatable to a cross-sectional size small enough to enable it to pass through the instrument channel, and can be positioned inflated to a size large enough to be anchored in the large intestine without being stretched. The instrument channel may have an inner diameter that does not exceed 5.5 mm, an inner diameter that does not exceed 4.5 mm, or an inner diameter that does not exceed 3.2 mm. Additionally, the inflatable/deflatable balloon assembly is inflatable to a cross sectional dimension of at least 70 mm, 60 mm, or at least 50 mm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
