The present invention provides a method and apparatus for updating an internet protocol (IP) address, and a gateway. The method comprises: a proxy server acquires information about a pre-set server and dynamic domain name service system (DDNS) server information about the pre-set server; the proxy server identifies, according to the information about the pre-set server, an IP address of the pre-set server; and the proxy server sends the IP address to a DDNS server indicated by the DDNS server information. The present invention resolves the problem of non-provision of a method for updating a DDNS IP address in an internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) network in the related art, thereby implementing dynamic update of the DDNS IP address in the IPv6 network. |
