PURPOSE:To estimate sleeping condition based on intensity of physical motions of a human body and a rest time thereof while a man is sleeping. CONSTITUTION:A piezo-electric element 1 arranged in a bedding is used to detect fine physical motions of a human body being propagated with activity of the heart of the human body and respiratory actions (hereafter called fine physical motions) or large physical motions such as entering bed, getting up and tossing about in bed (hereafter call rough physical motions). After the filtering, amplification and smoothing of a detection signal, judgement of absence, staying in bed or physical motions is performed according to the level of a smoothing signal. When the signal is zero, the absence is determined. When the fine physical motions exist, staying in bed is judged and when rough physical motions exist, physical motions are determined. In the judgement of physical motions, the intensity of the physical motions is determined. Thereafter, with the judgement of staying in bed, the rest time of physical motions is counted with a timer 6. Then, the current depth of sleep is estimated by an estimation means 11 based on the intensity of physical motions and the rest time of physical motions at the present time. |
