A fuel processor with an improved warming up structure is provided to reduce substantially the initial heating time of a CO removing unit, and an operating method of the fuel processor with an improved warming up structure is provided. A fuel processor comprises: a reformer(120) for reacting a flue source with water to extract hydrogen gas; a CO removing unit(150) for removing carbon monoxide generated during a hydrogen extraction reaction in the reformer, the CO removing unit including a CO shifter(151) in which a first catalyst(150a) for accelerating a reaction by steam and a second catalyst(150b) for accelerating a reaction by oxygen are embedded, and a CO remover(152) in which a third catalyst(150c) for accelerating a reaction by oxygen is embedded; and an air supply unit that selectively supplies air into the CO remover and the CO shifter. The first catalyst is uniformly distributed in the entire inner part of the CO shifter, and the second catalyst is densely disposed at the inlet side of the CO shifter. The first catalyst comprises at least one of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3,Fe/Cr oxides, metal oxides, Pt series catalysts, and Au series catalysts, and the second and third catalysts comprises at least one of Pt, Ru, Au, and metal oxides. The air supply unit includes an air supply pipe(190) for connecting an air source to the CO remover and the CO shifter, and valves(191,192) installed on the air supply pipe. |
