<p>A fire retardant coating composition for lignocellulosic materials which comprises expandable graphite particles, an absorbent material, a polymeric binder, a carbonific material, a blowing agent, and a wetting agent. The expandable graphite particles include from about 20 to about 95 % by weight of the combined amount of the expandable graphite particles and the absorbent material. The polymeric binder comprises from about 5 to about 50 % by weight of the combined amount of the polymeric binder, the expandable graphite particles, and the solid absorbent material.</p> |
