PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject device capable of composting organic wastes in a short period and capable of simply deodorizing the produced compost without using a water-adjusting material, and to provide a method for producing the compost. SOLUTION: This good compost is obtained by adding a small amount of quicklime to organic wastes, subjecting the mixture to a chemical reaction treatment by the use of a mixing and stirring device, accumulating the treated product for about one week, and subsequently converting the accumulated material into a stabilized treatment product with a pressure mixing stirring device. Thus, the good compost in which effective bacteria are bred can be produced. Thereby, the organic wastes can simply and quickly be treated in a small space in a deodorized state, because of not using a water-adjusting material, and the cost for producing the compost is also advantageous, because only a small amount of the lime is used.
