<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a merchandise return registration processing using merchandise information stored in a radio tag attached to returned merchandise, and eliminate a need to rewrite the information in the radio tag after the merchandise return. <P>SOLUTION: A memory of the radio tag 4 stores merchandise information that identifies the merchandise to which the radio tag is attached, and response determination information that decides whether or not to respond to an inquiry command. When an inquiry command with a first parameter for indicating a merchandise sale processing is received from a merchandise sale registration device 2, the merchandise information in the memory is transmitted by radio, and the response determination information is reset to deny a response.
