DRAFT READER, DRAFT READING METHOD, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately output a paper size of a draft even if the draft is placed to be inclined to the reference position of the draft, and improve much more operability at a time of draft setting compared with conventional systems.

SOLUTION: A draft 20 is arranged by making the image formation face upwards on a platen cover 50 which has a different color from the paper color of the draft 20, and a size larger than the paper size of the draft 20. The apparatus comprises a scanner 11 which scans the platen cover 50 including the image formation face of the draft 20, and obtains an image data Din; a reader and processor 81 which develops the image data Din, and detects the paper image of the draft from the acquired image of the platen cover 50; an inclining corrector 82 which compares the paper image of the draft 20 and a reference position established beforehand, and corrects inclining of the paper image for the reference position; and a size detector 83 which calculates the paper size of the draft 20 after calculation of coordinates of top points of the paper image after correction.
