PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliabile optical receptacle which is excellent in repetitive reproducibility of insertion loss, inexpensive, and miniaturized. SOLUTION: The optical receptacle constituted of a split sleeve which forms a slit in the axial direction and holds one end of a plug ferrule, and a metallic holder which is formed in a shape of a bottomed cup and forms a through-hole in the bottom, so that the tip face of the plug ferrule can be irradiated with light by passing an optical signal through the through hole, is characterized in that almost the center of the bottom of the metallic holder is formed into a cylindrical convex part, and also the through-hole is formed in the convex part, and further the slit sleeve is joined to the convex part so as to cover it.
