PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method capable of easily detecting the yield point of a solid material, which can not be calculated by a conventional method, by a tensile testing method using a weight type control method based on a viewpoint different from a conventional tensile testing method. SOLUTION: Constant load W(n+1), wherein sequential step load Ws is added after the stabilization of the strainεn due to the action of constant load Wn, is allowed to stepwise act on the solid material to be detected and stressσn, at the point of time when the time Ts(n) required in the stabilization of the strainεn at the time of action of the constant load Wn measured at every stage shows an unstable behavior from a stable transition, is set as the yield pointσy of the solid material. Further, when the ground difference valueεm or the second difference valueεo of the strainεn due to the action of the constant load Wn shows the unstable behavior from the stable transition, the stressσn of the constant load Wn is set to the yield pointσy of the solid material.
