PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diaphragm device for projector that can be compactly arranged at a position near a light source lamp. SOLUTION: In a motor 4, a gearwheel 5 is attached to an output shaft 4a projecting to the back side of a bottom plate 1. Light shielding members 8, 9 made of synthetic resin are rotatably attached to shafts 6, 7 standingly provided to the back side of the bottom plate 1. In the light shielding member 8, a tooth part 8a is meshed with the gearwheel 5 and a tooth part 8b is meshed with a tooth part 9a of the light shielding member 9. The light shielding members 8, 9 have attachment parts 8c, 9b which project to the surface side of the bottom plate 1 and keeps light shielding plates 16, 19 attached on them. The light shielding plates 16, 19 are not flat plates, but are folded at lines parallel to the shafts 6, 7, i.e., perpendicular to the bottom plate, and each consists of two flat plate-like segments.
