<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlight for a vehicle as improvement of a conventional projector type involving such problems that approximately half the light is shielded by a shading plate for formation of light distribution and goes with no use to result in a low rate of light flux utilization of a light source and a lightness corresponding to the consumed power can not be obtained. <P>SOLUTION: The headlight for the vehicle is composed of the light source 3, the first reflecting surface 21 which is formed in the over-part using the light source 3 as a first focus f1 and whose longitudinal axis X consists of a horizontal elliptical system, a second reflecting surface 22 which is formed under the light source 3 and whose longitudinal axis consists of an approximately horizontal elliptical system, a third reflecting surface 4 formed a certain spacing under the axis of the light source approximately horizontally between the light source and the second focus f2 of the second reflecting surface, a first projection lens 7 mating with the first reflecting surface, and a second projection lens 8 mating with the second and third reflecting surfaces, whereby the reflected light by the second reflecting surface is changed into a downward directed light by the third reflecting surface 4 so as to be used as a projection light, and the rate of light flux utilization of the light source is enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
