<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material with high capacity and superior in charge and discharge cycle characteristics, to provide a battery using this, and to provide a manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material. <P>SOLUTION: The positive electrode 2 has a positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material is provided with a covering layer which is installed at least at a part of compound oxide particles and has an oxide containing lithium (Li) and at least any of elements out of nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), and cobalt (Co). A ratio (Ni(T)Co(S)/Ni(S)Co(T)) that is an atomic ratio (Ni(T)/Co(T)) of the total average nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) to an atomic ratio (Ni(S)/Co(S)) of nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) on the surface is larger than a ratio (Mn(T)Co(S)/Mn(S)Co(T)) that is an atomic ratio (Mn(T)/Co(T)) of the total average manganese (Mn) and cobalt (Co) to an atomic ratio (Mn(S)/Co(S)) of manganese (Mn) and cobalt (Co) on the surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
