<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new lipolysis promoter suppressing new accumulation of fat and reducing the already accumulated fat by promoting degradation of the fat. <P>SOLUTION: The new and safe lipolysis promoter comprising astaxanthin and/or an ester thereof as an active ingredient and having ultrahigh effects is provided. The lipolysis promoter has effects of degrading and reducing the fat in both a state in which the fat is already accumulated and a state before accumulating the fat. Thereby, it is considered that hypertrophic fat cells can be returned to cells of normal size by the lipolysis promoter.
