<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box shape drawing method which uses a thin stainless steel sheet, does not require welding, can freely change the length of a container, and overcome such problems that manufacture of a rectangular box container, whose long side is significantly longer than a press machine, requires welding for forming short side so that there are limitation in material quality and requires thickness, and requires necessity of rust preventive treatment, often resulting in a heavy product. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the process of manufacturing the rectangular box container, a middle part along the long side is bent at a right angle in the preceding step, and then the box container is formed by applying box shape draw forming on the short side with a U-shaped blank holder. The male blank holder die 5 has almost trapezoidal shape with tip parts on the open side tapered toward inside and having curved inclined faces 10. During forming, three dimensionally curved part generated in the boundary between the right angle bent part and unformed part on the short side of a work blank W faces to the curved inclined face 10 keeping a small gap between them, which enables the work blank W to come in linear contact with the curved inclined face 10 helping its sliding and drawing during drawing motion.
