PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system capable of inhibiting a variation in deceleration at the time of braking.SOLUTION: The vehicle control system includes a clutch that connects or disconnects an engine with driving wheels, and a control unit. When activation of a brake is not detected, the control unit performs first traveling control of allowing a vehicle to travel with the clutch disengaged and the engine stopped. When a vehicle speed is equal to or smaller than a threshold and activation of the brake is detected, the control unit performs second traveling control of allowing the vehicle to travel with the clutch disengaged and the engine stopped. When the first traveling control is performed (Y at step S10), if activation of the brake is detected (Y at step S20), as long as engagement of the clutch is predicted to be completed before the vehicle speed becomes equal to or smaller than the threshold (N at step S40), the control unit initiates clutch engagement control (step S60). If the vehicle speed is predicted to become equal to or smaller than the threshold before engagement of the clutch is completed (Y at step S40), the control unit does not initiate the engagement control (step S50).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
