<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, cost effective method of making an oxygen electrode (anode) for alkaline water electrolysis. <P>SOLUTION: The method of making the anode for an alkaline electrolysis cell includes the step (32) of providing a carbonaceous material as a base material for the electrode, the step (34) of forming a layer of a precursor material on the carbonaceous material, typically by adsorption onto the carbonaceous material, the step (36) of converting the precursor material into its hydroxide form, and the step (38) of converting the precursor material from hydroxide form to oxy-hydroxide form in an alkaline electrolysis cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
