<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system precisely detecting degradation of an electrolyte membrane. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system is provided with a fuel cell equipped with an electrolyte membrane which carries out proton conduction, and generating power by applying cathode gas supply to a cathode and anode gas supply to an anode. It is also provided with an offgas tube path which makes to circulate cathode offgas exhausted from the fuel cell or anode offgas exhausted from the fuel cell. The fuel cell system is provided with an ion concentration acquiring means for acquiring ion concentration in the offgas tube path, and a water volume acquiring means for acquiring water volume existing in the fuel cell. Further, it is provided with an ion amount acquiring means for acquiring an ion amount existing in the fuel cell based on a product between the ion concentration and the water volume. Furthermore, it is provided with a degradation detecting means for detecting degradation of the electrolyte membrane based on the ion amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
