PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid type work machine that can improve fuel consumption, improve exhaust gas characteristics and reduce noise by employing a hybrid system and making an engine compact, and further rapidly charging a power storage device while suppressing a hydraulic pump from decreasing in output when a charging amount of the power storage device is extremely insufficient.SOLUTION: A vehicle body controller 46 performs engine rotating speed reduction control to lower a target rotating speed of an engine 11 and reduced torque control to lower a maximum absorption torque of a hydraulic pump 21 when a charging rate of a battery 33 is equal to or less than a maximum charging rate so as to force the engine to generate surplus torque, and also makes a power generator electric motor 31 operate as a power generator using the surplus torque to rapidly charging the battery.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
