PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhaust a discharge product to the outside of a machine without leaking to the outside of a charging pole storage part in a charging device.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a charging pole storage part having an opening at a photoreceptor side for storing a charging pole; a suction part having a suction duct for sucking gas into the charging pole storage part; an exhaust part having an exhaust duct for exhausting gas from the charging pole storage part to the outside of a machine; a gas inlet disposed in the charging pole storage part for introducing gas from the suction duct to a first region where the opening of the charging pole storage part faces an image formation region of the photoreceptor; a gas outlet disposed in the charging pole storage part for extracting gas exhausted from the exhaust duct from a second region adjacent to the first region; a preliminary opening disposed at a position different from the gas outlet, that is, a position separated from the first region in an axial direction of the photoreceptor of the charging pole storage part; and a control part for controlling the suction part and the exhaust part such that the gas volume of the exhaust part becomes larger than the gas volume of the suction part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
