<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the occurrence of an uneven thickness in the rolling of a seamless pipe by positioning the lower surface of a base stock in a heating furnace on the caliber surface of a caliber roll and rolling the seamless pipe. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacturing process of a seamless pipe, the lower surface of a base stock with a square section is positioned on the caliber 3 surface of a caliber roll in a heating furnace to supply it to a rolling mill. Consequently, a difference in a deformation resistance accompanying some difference in temperature is eliminated by a direct roll reduction of the caliber 3 and a working without uneven thickness is performed. The base stock which is reversed and extracted from the heating furnace, is transferred on a receiving base 4 with a sliding surface C, slides on the receiving base 4, and is supplied to the rolling mill without turning over it. Therefore, the low temperature surface of the base stock is positioned on the caliber 3 surface.</p> |
