A low odor, reusable fiber composite material (I) contains: (A) a polymer having naturalizable acid groups and/or anhydride groups as a binding agent that is water soluble in its neutralized form; and (B) 0.1-30 wt.% activated carbon (wrt the total amount of polymeric binding agent). An Independent claim is included for a process for the production of (I) by mixing fibers with an aqueous dispersion of with respect to and (B).
