SOLUTION: Ion output is detected, and a cylinder number J for combustion this time is discriminated, and the mean value of the past predetermined number of the ion output of the J-th cylinder is obtained, and an ion mean value of the whole cylinders as a reference value is obtained (S202-S208). A determination whether a load is low or not is done (S210), and in the case of NO, a determination whether the load is medium or not is done (S212), and in the case of YES, an ion current correction coefficient for correcting a difference of the ion current due to a difference of an ignition plug of the J-th cylinder is computed (S214).
