NEW BENZOQUINONE-BASED ANTIBIOTIC

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new benzoquinone-based antibiotic useful as a carcinostatic agent, to provide a method for producing the same and to obtain a bacterium capable of producing the antibiotic. SOLUTION: Benzoquinone-based antibiotic aclidinomycin A and Aclidinomycin B. This method for producing the antibiotic comprises culturing a bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of producing the antibiotic and collecting the antibiotic from the culture product. Streptomyces halstedi KB012 strain (FERM P-18062) capable of producing the antibiotic.
