<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clothing management system and method, automatically acquiring a taking-in/out situation of clothing to manage the clothing. <P>SOLUTION: The clothing installed with an IC tag 10 including a clothing ID and a flag having a first value passes before a reader/writer 20 and comes in and out of a closet 50. The reader/writer 20 reads information from the IC tag 10 attached to the clothing. The reader/writer 20 adds date information to the read information, transmits it to a user terminal 30, and rewrites the flag included in the IC tag 10 into a second value. The user terminal 30 adds a user ID to the received information, and transmits it to a management server 401.
