A method for guiding a tape and a flexible strip background is provided to reduce the time of installing a piece of a short tape inside a component supplying device by easily attaching a clip to a peeled end portion of a cover tape. A method for guiding a tape and a flexible strip background includes the steps of: peeling an end portion of a cover tape in a carrier tape; attaching a flexible strip to the end portion of the peeled cover tape by a clip; guiding the flexible strip through a cover tape path of a component supplying device. The flexible strip is attached to the cover tape to be detachable. The clip is a spring loaded clip. The clip has a unit in a shape of a tooth to hold the end portion of the cover tape.
