An image capturing apparatus, an image capturing circuit and an image capturing method are provided to compress image data capable of reading and writing in a memory when image quality compensating processes of captured image data are performed in a signal processing unit, thereby reducing the reading and writing time of image data in a memory. An image capturing apparatus using a solid state image capturing element comprises the following parts: a compressing unit(31) for compressing digital-converted image data which is imaged by the solid state image capturing element; a memory(14) for temporary maintaining the compressed image data by the compressing unit; an extending unit(32) for extending the compressed image data read by the memory; and a signal processing unit(22) for performing image quality compensating process of the extended image data by the extending unit.
