PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous emulsion having excellent protective colloid power, and largely improved in thickening with time on still standing preservation after emulsion polymerization, more in detail, an admixture for a hydraulic inorganic material and redispersible synthetic resin powder stably obtaining excellent strength of the mixed inorganic material and flow properties of the admixed product regardless of its storage period. SOLUTION: This aqueous emulsion is one in which a polymer, comprising one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylic ester-based monomer, a styrenic monomer and a diene-based monomer as main components, is dispersed by polyvinyl alcohol (A), where the polymer is oxidation treated during and/or after polymerization.
