PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder magnetic core with low core loss suitable for a motor core and an electric reactor core, which have reduced hysteresis loss and are used at a comparatively low frequency, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an iron powder for the powder magnetic core comprises the steps of: preparing an FeSi-based iron powder containing 100 ppm or less C; applying a mechanical stress to the powder to distort it; and heat-treating the iron powder by keeping it at 500 to 1,200°C. The iron powder preferably includes at least one element of Al, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Nb and Sb in an amount of 1,000 ppm or less. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
