PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branched polycarbonate resin having high melt tension, moldability and flame retardance, excellent in productivity and able to efficiently produce excellent molded products. SOLUTION: The method for producing the branched polycarbonate resin is to use a trisphenol compound having a specific structure as a branching agent in producing the branched polycarbonate resin by surface polycondensation using a divalent phenol, a carbonate precursor, a branching agent and a terminating agent. The branched polycarbonate resin produced by the method is provided. The branched polycarbonate resin has high flame retardance, melt tension and high moldability and is excellent in productivity, and excellent molded products can be efficiently produced.
