Surface mounting connector

A surface mounting connector (1) has a housing (10) with a metal member (30) having a T-shaped part composed of a wide width portion (W1, W2) soldered to a surface of a substrate where the surface mounting connector (1) is mounted, and a narrow width portion (N) narrower than the wide width portion (W1, W2) and extending from the wide width portion (W1, W2) at the center of the edge thereof in the width direction. The narrow width portion (N) is bent at substantially 90 degrees near the wide width portion (W1, W2) so as to stand along the bottom of a sidewall (120) of the housing (10) and the wide width portion (W1, W2) protrudes outside from the bottom of the sidewall (120) of the housing (10). A portion of the sidewall (120) of the housing (10) positioned at each side of the narrow width portion (N) tapers inwardly from another portion of the sidewall (120) above the portion.
