PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for an organic electroluminescent element which can encapsulate a gel absorbent between an organic EL element substrate and a counter substrate simply and securely.SOLUTION: When the gel absorbent is hermetically sealed between the organic EL element substrate and the counter substrate by a sealant coated on the peripheral portion of the counter substrate, relatively low molecular weight silicon CFor CFor SFflowing out from the gel absorbent coated on the surface of the counter substrate to the peripheral portion of the counter substrate is treated with plasma (etching step S15) before a coating of sealant is applied to the peripheral portion of the counter substrate in a sealant coating step S17 to encapsulate the gel absorbent between the organic EL element substrate and the counter substrate. |
