METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING A DISPLAY COMPRISING TWO OR MORE PANELS

An apparatus for co-ordinating display data sent to a display device (19) that comprises two or more panels(28), or sub-displays together forming a single display screen for displaying at least one complete image. Each display panel (28) has a display input for receiving display data of part of the complete image from a corresponding display output of a display control device(22). The display control device (22) receives packets of display data (24) from a host device(21), the display data (24) in each packet being destined for one of the display panels (28). The display control device (22) directs the packets to one or more processors (26) of a processing module (20) in the display control device (22) for processing the display data (24) and storing the processed display data in a respective buffer (18) according to which respective display panel (28) the display data (24) is destined for. The display control device (22) controls the processing module (20) so that the processed display data (24) is output from the buffers (18) at a synchronized time to the display output corresponding to the respective display panel (28) for which the display data (24) is destined.
