This device for inferring the amount of intake air is provided with a means that is for calculating the amount of air that has passed through a throttle valve and that calculates the amount of air that has passed through a throttle valve on the basis of the opening area of the throttle valve and the upstream/downstream pressure ratio of the throttle valve as the ratio between the pressure on the upstream side of the throttle valve and the pressure on the downstream side of the throttle valve, and the amount of intake air of an internal combustion engine is inferred on the basis of the amount of air that has passed through the throttle valve. Furthermore, the device for inferring the amount of intake air is provided with a correction means that calculates an actual cylinder volume on the basis of an intake valve closing timing, and corrects the amount of air that has passed through the throttle valve in accordance with the actual cylinder volume. |
