A composition comprising a chlorogentisyl alcohol compound is provided to show free radical and superoxide radical scavenging activity and excellent strong anti-oxidative effect relating to DNA damage inhibitory activity induced by a hydroxyl radical, thereby being used as a pharmaceutical composition and a health functional food useful for preventing and treating oxidation-related diseases. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating oxidation-related diseases such as aging, coronary arteriosclerosis, diabetes, epilepsy and neuro-degenerative diseases comprises 0.1-50 wt.% of a chlorogentisyl alcohol compound as an effective ingredient, wherein the compound is isolated from Aspergillus parasiticus, Aspergillus caespitosus, Aspergillus candidus, Aspergillus chevalieri, Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus sojae, Aspergillus ruber or Aspergillus flavus.
