A device (1) for automated installation of threaded inserts (2) in components (3) is disclosed. Said device (1) comprises a screwing mechanism (4) for screwing the threaded insert (2) into a threaded hole (5) of the available component (3) with the aid of a driver peg (6) on the threaded insert (2). The device (1) further comprises a striking mechanism (7) for severing the driver peg (6), and a magnet (8) for removing the severed driver peg (6) from the threaded hole (5). A method for operating the aforementioned device (1) is also disclosed.
