PURPOSE:To obtain stable photographic performance even when a color developing soln. is slightly replenished, by incorporating a specified magenta coupler into a silver halide emulsion layer and adding specified compds. to the color developing soln. CONSTITUTION:A magenta coupler represented by formula I is incorporated into at least one of silver halide emulsion layers and a compd. represented by formula II and at least one kind of compd. selected among manganese and cerium salts are added to a color developing soln. used in a color developing stage. In the formulae I, II, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a hetero ring contg. nitrogen, X is hydrogen atom or a substituent releasable by a reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent, R is hydrogen atom or a substituent group and each of R<1> and R<2> is alkyl group or hydrogen atom. Thus, stable photographic characteristics are provided even when processing with low replenishment or rapid processing is carried out. |
