<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent chemical reaction or atomic diffusion between a recording layer and a dielectric protective layer in a phase-change recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical information recording medium having a barrier layer 8 made of, representatively, Ge-N or Ge-N-O, is provided. A barrier material can also be applied as protective layers 2 and 4 themselves. Thereby, a reduction in reflectance or a reduction in signal amplitude due to repeated recording/erasing, which are observed in conventional phase-change optical information recording media, can be significantly suppressed, resulting in an increase in the number of possible times of rewriting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
