There is provided a hinge for windows and doors or the like, with hinge parts fastenable via a screw-down or screw-on base 3 to the visible surface of the frame and/or wing, specifically especially a hinge bearing for the swivel devices of turn-and-tilt fittings, in which the pivot sleeves or bearing lugs 7a, 7b of two hinge parts are held in uncouplable articulated connection with one another by means of an axially displaceable bearing bolt 9, the bearing bolt 9 being securable in its engaged operative position against axial displacement. So that, in practical use, the undesirable disengagement of the axially displaceable bearing bolt can be prevented and also access to the fastening screws barred, positively surrounding metal protective caps 11 are provided both of the screw-down and screw-on bases 3 and for the pivot sleeve or bearing lugs 7a, 7b of the respective hinge part, for example of the bearing block 1. Between these protective caps 11 and the hinge parts, for example the bearing block 1, are located catch fasteners 16 and 17 which are arranged in a concealed manner and the catch members 18, 19 and 26, 29 of which can be put into and out of blocking engagement relative to one another only by means of a special tool.
