During the operation of an industrial furnace, incinerator or power station, the composition of the hot process gases or emissions is repeatedly monitored. A hot industrial gas sample passes through a cooling unit which is flushed by alcohol and inert gas after each sample is taken. The cooler is then flushed with an inert gas.
