PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas meter using an electric selector valve and causing little gas pressure loss. SOLUTION: A valve insertion hole 5 is provided immediately below an inlet metal hole 1a in an upper case 3, with its hole axis being perpendicular to the axis of the inlet metal hole 1a so that the valve insertion hole 5 is communicated with the inlet metal hole 1a. An annular valve seat face 23c with a valve seat hole 23d formed therein as a gas circulation passage is provided in the depth of the valve insertion hole 5. An electric selector valve 22 having a valve element 21 moving toward and away from the valve seat face 23c in opposite relationship thereto is provided on the valve insertion side of the valve insertion hole 5. The valve element 21 is located generally immediately below the inlet metal hole 1a. The stroke of the valve element 21 is set at 5 mm and the difference between the outside diameter of the valve element 21 and the inside diameter of the valve seat hole 23d is set at 4 mm. The difference between the inside diameter of the valve insertion hole 5 and the outside diameter of the valve element 21 is set at 8 mm.
