PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inexpensive prophylactic and therapeutic agent with high safety having prophylactic and therapeutic effect on viral infection and bacterial infection by including fucoidan and some sort of bacterium of the genus Bacillus therein. SOLUTION: This prophylactic and therapeutic agent comprises (A) fucoidan and (B) a bacterium belonging to Bacillus pumilus or Bacillus lentus. The component A is mainly sulfated polysaccharides comprising fucose and having several hundred thousand molecular weight and is contained in Nemacystus decipiens, Anthogorgia bocki, Laminaria japonica, Undaria pinnatifida, tangle weed, Dictyotaceae, etc., of brown algae and the brown algae are powdered and directly fed or the extract thereof can suitably be used. One or two or more bacteria selected from Bacillus pumilus A-1 strain (FERM BP-6280), Bacillus rentas A-2 strain (FERM BP-6278), Bacillus lentus A-3 strain (FERM BP-6279), Bacillus pumilus A-4 strain (FERM BP-6281) are preferably used as the component B. |
