PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new DNA probe for detecting a new psychrophilic bacterium which has a specific base sequence, is 16S rDNA of a microbial species inhabiting indigenously in the deep sea, allows specifically detecting psychrophilic bacteria and related species thereto in the deep sea, and can be used for modeling the circulation and upwelling of the deep seawater and so on. SOLUTION: This is a new DNA probe for detecting a new psychrophilic bacterium which has the base sequence shown by the formula, is 16S rDNA of a microbial species inhabiting indigenously in the deep sea, allows detecting or identifying a psychrophilic bacterium selected from a group comprising Psychrobacter pacificus and P.glacincola inhabiting indigenously in the deep sea and related species thereof, and is useful for modeling the circulation of the deep seawater and upwelling thereto using the deep sea microorganisms as indices and so on. This DNA probe is obtained by extracting genomic DNA of P.pacificus NIBH P2K6, amplifying the obtained DNA by PCR, followed by extracting a base sequence region specific to the bacterium based on the base sequence information of its 16S rRNA gene. |
