<p>The digital radio (2) can transmit return signalling, and/or transmit interrupt signalling. In order to calculate the times for transmitting this signalling, the digital radio uses (20) knowledge of both the delay of a repeater in the radio communications system (2-8), and the settling time for its own transitions between receive and transmit modes of operation. The invention also comprises a digital radio communications system (2-8) with a repeater (8) which braodcasts information about signal delay within it. The information minimises information loss caused by return signalling or transmit interrupt signalling in a digital radio communications system (2-8).</p> |
