PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic charge image developing toner of pure black comparable to a carbon-black-containing toner, using an inorganic black pigment harmless to the human body and environment, having good charge buildup performance, excellent in charge stability even in continuous use, realizing the reduction of environmental load cost and toner cost, and realizing formation of an image of high image quality free from surface stain, and to provide a method for manufacturing the toner, a toner container filled with the toner, a process cartridge in which the toner is held, an image forming apparatus loaded with the toner container or process cartridge, and an image forming method using the toner. SOLUTION: This electrostatic charge image developing toner contains at least a binder resin and a black metal oxide as a colorant and is composed of powder obtained by pulverizing/classifying a kneaded material which contains at least a binder resin and a black metal oxide as a colorant and is prepared by incorporating calcium carbonate in melt kneading. Additionally, by an electrostatic charge image developing toner which is powder obtained by pulverizing/classifying a kneaded material prepared by incorporating calcium carbonate in melt kneading, a toner having good charge stability, excellent in durability and having always stable chargeability even in long-term continuous use can be obtained. Since environmental load cost and simplex toner cost can be reduced and charge buildup performance is good, a stable image free of surface stain can be obtained from an early stage.
