<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology in which exhaust performance can be prevented from worsening in a transient time when a compression ratio is changed, in a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: In the variable compression ratio internal combustion engine, there is an exhaust gas purification catalyst installed in an exhaust gas passage, and the volume of a combustion chamber is changed to change the compression ratio. In the transient time when the compression ratio is changed, a fuel injection quantity in a cylinder is adjusted so that the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture becomes almost equal to before and after the change of the compression ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
